Earlier this month we had the pleasure of hosting a celebration of Komoot's Content Creators at Willow Springs in the Afan Forest - described by Leigh Rose (whose images beautifully capture the vibes here) as "a restfully active weekend".
It pretty much sums up the magic that happens when an inspiring, adventure-loving community of hikers, riders and runners gather - united by their shared love of the outdoors. To chill in a beautiful setting, explore the surroundings, indulge in a bit of activity and enjoy wholesome, delicious meal-times - together.
Komoot's Leigh Rose, captures a "restfully active weekend" in this fab collection of images.
Content Creators are a crucial part of the Komoot community. The weekend was all about celebrating these amazing, dedicated folk - who are continuously exploring, tirelessly blazing new trails and making new discoveries in wild and beautiful surroundings. They love being out there - planning, documenting and sharing their experiences - for us to enjoy!
Set in a spectacular mountain landscape - the dreamy Willow Springs camp was the perfect base for the weekend. Perched at the top of the valley deep in the Afan Forest. Surrounded by endless trails, tracks, rivers and waterfalls - this stunning spot boasts its very own wood-fired saunas, plunge pool as well as superb facilities and camping pitches with gorgeous views.
A wholesome weekend of chilling, chatting, sharing by the fire and later enjoying delicious meals together - around the table.
And yes - there was some hiking, riding and mountain biking done in the spectacular mountain surroundings. Not to mention meeting and feeding the resident llamas!
People started arriving on Friday, setup camp and took the opportunity to check out the area and the sauna. The amazing Nicola rode into camp from Port Talbot station on trails that connect the city with basecamp!
The rest of the gang rolled in on Saturday morning and after settling in - groups formed around their chosen ride, run, hike or MTB - headed out into the mountains making good use of awesome incredible range the area has to offer - spectacular mountain landscapes, rushing rivers, crashing waterfalls - which makes it ideal for exploring by foot or on two wheels!
As much as the weekend was about enjoying the stunning surroundings - in essence it was about community - about meeting fellow pioneers, great company and sharing delicious meals together - around the banqueting table in the stunning Willow Springs stone barn
Post ride/walk/run - and back at base camp - it was fabulous to see the community come together for afternoon for tea, coffee and cake. Was just fabulous to see everyone around the table sharing their respective stories.
Later on Saturday after a sauna and plunge in the pool or dunking in the waterfall - everyone came together for more chilling and chatting around the camp fire. Followed by - a delicious meal together around the dinner table.
In line with Wild Cycles' signature approach - another delicious meal - breakfast was served up on Sunday morning - and importantly enjoyed together of course.
Thank you so much! The food was spectacular- so grateful for all your hard work and for making it such a special weekend! @minimicoradvenures
